Wombourne Tennis Club is a section of the Wombourne Cricket, Tennis & Bowls Club situated on the green in the centre of the village. The tennis section has existed for over 50 years, ever since the grounds were donated to the club for the playing of sport and boasts an ever growing number of members.
The main clubhouse is used by the Tennis, Cricket and Bowls clubs and is host to a number of events throughout the year, such as cabarets, quizzes and dances. Our section is organised by a committee who are elected each year at our annual general meeting. Committee meetings are held regularly and all members are welcome to attend.
We have two teams for both the Men's and Ladies in the Staffordshire Inter Tennis League and a Ladies and Mixed team in the Hereford & Worcester Winter League. Throughout the year, the tennis section hosts a large number of tournaments and events which all members are encouraged to join. Juniors tennis and coaching sessions for a variety of ages are also available.
Be sure to check out our planned summer court timetable in the below document. We have a number of social events and league matches throughout the week.
Please read our guidelines on Covid 19 Tennis Activity Protocol
We’re very happy and excited to announce Wombourne Tennis Club reopens to its Tennis members Saturday 16th May. Following guidance from the LTA, to be able to participate courts MUST be booked first.
We have therefore introduced an online booking form. The link to the court booking site has been sent to all members by email. Additionally with this email a document was sent outlining the protocols that MUST be followed by all members both on and off the courts in relation to Covid-19 (see the above link for our Covid 19 Tennis Activity Protocol).
Please read this carefully so you fully understand the safety guidelines we have implemented and your responsibility to keep yourself and other Tennis members safe. This includes observing social distancing at all times on and off the courts and washing hands as per government guidelines
Furthermore, doubles is allowed ONLY with members of your own household. Singles is allowed with one other person from outside your household.
We hope to see as many of you down safely enjoying a sport we all love. Stay alert, control the virus, save lives.

Thankyou to everyone who participated in our recent Club Quiz Night, it was wonderful to see everyone is such high spirits despite the current period of lockdown and self isolation.
Thanks to Angus and Ade for organising and hosting the event and congratulations to Mick George and team for winning a three-team tie breaker final question.
Following this evening's announcement it is regrettable, but necessary, to announce that the Tennis courts will officially close with immediate effect. This applies to all coaching activities which are currently organised by the club coach (Dan Nicholson), and to all aspects of social tennis activity.
This closure will initially be for a period of three weeks, and a further communication will be made at that point subject to the government's advice at that time.
I would hope that all members will comply with the recent guidance that has been issued to Stay at Home. This is to protect both yourselves, and the whole general public. The sooner we do this, the sooner we can beat this and resume a sense of normality.
